The Nii Teye Kojo Amankwah Sunnel, Gbetsile Mantse, has warned that he may mobilise the youth of his community for a peaceful demonstration against the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) in response to ongoing water supply disruptions.
Speaking at a town hall meeting organised by the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA), the chief expressed frustration that residents of Gbetsile continue to face irregular water provision despite the presence of a GWCL district office in the area, while neighbouring communities enjoy more consistent supply.
Nii Amankwah Sunnel said repeated complaints to GWCL have gone unanswered, forcing residents to travel long distances at additional expense to secure water.
He emphasised that access to clean water is essential for drinking, cooking, sanitation, and disease prevention, and that the community remains vulnerable under the current conditions.
The Mantse assured that the planned demonstration would be conducted responsibly and peacefully, with no intent to create tension or politicise the issue. He called for urgent action to ensure that every resident of Gbetsile has reliable access to potable water.
