The Government of Ghana has launched urgent diplomatic and security engagements following reports that a truck transporting Ghanaian tomato traders was caught in a terrorist attack in northern Burkina Faso.
In a statement issued to media houses, Interior and National Security Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak confirmed that authorities received distressing information about the incident, which occurred in the town of Titao on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
According to the minister, the truck was carrying Ghanaian tomato traders when it became embroiled in the attack. The exact number of traders affected and the extent of casualties or injuries remain unclear.

Government officials say the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso is actively coordinating with Burkinabè authorities to verify details and determine the condition of any Ghanaians involved. Arrangements are also being made for officials to visit the scene to gather firsthand information and support identification efforts.
Authorities have assured the public that updates will be provided as investigations progress.
The development underscores persistent insecurity in parts of Burkina Faso and the wider Sahel region, where extremist violence has increasingly threatened civilian lives and disrupted trade and cross-border economic activities.
