The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) has recorded a historic market capitalisation of GH¢251 billion as of Tuesday, March 3, 2026, reflecting a 56.6 percent return to investors, largely driven by strong performance from telecom giant MTN Ghana.
Official figures show the GSE’s total valuation has risen from GH¢244.52 billion earlier, signalling improved investor confidence in key equities. Trading activity on Tuesday saw MTN Ghana dominate turnover, while financial institutions such as Ecobank Ghana, Societe Generale Ghana, and GCB Bank Limited contributed to broader market growth.
Among top gainers, Standard Chartered Bank Ghana and Enterprise Group led the performance chart. Analysts attribute the rally to improving macroeconomic conditions, declining inflation rates, and sustained investor interest in high-performing equities.
However, concerns remain over potential volatility stemming from ongoing Middle-East tensions and rising crude oil prices, which could impact investor appetite.
Market capitalisation, representing the total value of all listed companies based on share prices, is seen as a key indicator of market health. The GSE’s milestone further cements its status as one of Africa’s top-performing stock markets, following recognition as the continent’s best equity performer last year.
