Ghana has unveiled an ambitious plan to digitise 100 billion records from public institutions over the next four years using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The initiative, announced at the Ghana AI Summit in Accra, is part of the country’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy (2023–2033) and aims to enhance efficiency, transparency, and data accessibility while reducing manual errors.
Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, highlighted that the project will establish a structured and secure data ecosystem in line with global governance standards.
The government also plans to create a centralised data exchange hub to streamline public data access for AI applications and businesses, further positioning Ghana as a leader in AI adoption in Africa.
In collaboration with the private sector, Ghana will establish an AI Council to ensure the ethical and responsible deployment of AI technologies, fostering trust and innovation.
