In a bold move signalling a fresh chapter for the club, Accra Hearts of Oak have appointed Mas-ud Didi Dramani as their new head coach, handing the former Asante Kotoko and Black Stars assistant a two-year mandate to steer the team back to domestic and regional prominence.
The appointment follows a comprehensive post-season review of both player output and technical leadership after what the club described as a disappointing 2024–25 Ghana Premier League campaign.
In a statement issued by club management, the board emphasised that the decision was strategic, aimed at revitalising the team’s performance and reclaiming their competitive edge:
“Following a comprehensive evaluation of the technical team and player performance in the recently concluded GPL season, the Board of Hearts of Oak has implemented strategic changes to strengthen the team. Effective immediately, Coach Didi Dramani has been appointed head coach on a two-year contract.”
A Coach With a Proven Track Record
Dramani brings a wealth of experience to the Phobians’ bench, having won back-to-back league titles with rivals Asante Kotoko and served as a tactician for both Ghana’s Black Galaxies and Black Stars, where he was assistant coach.
His résumé also boasts a collection of elite coaching certifications, including:
-
CAF License A
-
UEFA License B
-
CAF Instructor Accreditation
These credentials, along with his experience developing local talent, make him a valuable asset to a Hearts of Oak side that has struggled with consistency and tactical discipline in recent seasons.
Turning the Page: From Ouattara to Dramani
Dramani replaces coach Aboubakar Ouattara, who parted ways with the club following the underwhelming season. While Ouattara’s tenure was short-lived, Hearts are clearly seeking long-term stability with the veteran Ghanaian coach.
“Coach Didi Dramani is scheduled to meet with the playing squad and outline his plans and philosophy,” the club confirmed.
Eyes on the President’s Cup and Eko Tournament
The new coach’s immediate focus will be preparing the team for the 2025 President’s Cup, a symbolic fixture on the Ghanaian football calendar, followed by participation in the Eko International Tournament in Nigeria—a crucial opportunity to assess the squad and implement his tactical approach ahead of the next league season.
Fans and pundits alike will be watching closely to see how Dramani reshapes the team’s identity and whether his tactical acumen can finally restore Hearts of Oak to the pinnacle of Ghanaian football.
