Edem Kofi Kpotosu has cut the sod for a major infrastructure project aimed at expanding the facilities of E.P. Mawuko Girls’ Senior High School at its new site in Hosita.
The project includes a modern 18-unit classroom block, staff accommodation, and improved sanitation facilities as part of efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure in the constituency.
The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with church leadership, municipal authorities, and school management, including the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Bliss Divine Agbeko, and the Municipal Chief Executive for Ho Central, Stephen Adom.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Kpotosu said investment in education, particularly girls’ education, remains central to national development and long-term social transformation.
He stressed that no student should be denied access to quality education due to inadequate infrastructure, adding that the project reflects a commitment to expanding opportunities for young women.
The MP noted that the new development would help address rising enrolment pressure at Mawuko Girls SHS and support the transition of the school to its new site.
According to him, the project will also protect the newly acquired land from encroachment while laying the foundation for future expansion.
Stakeholders at the event welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that it will significantly improve teaching and learning conditions and strengthen girls’ education in the Ho Central Constituency.
