Former manager of Kumawood actor and musician Kwadwo Nkansah Lil Win, Abdul Razak Amissah, popularly known as Zack GH, has clarified that he voluntarily ended his working relationship with the entertainer after disagreements over how he was treated within the management setup.
Zack GH said he decided to leave because he would not compromise his personal brand or accept a relationship in which he felt reduced to the role of a subordinate.
“Lil Win did not sack me. I quit,” he said in an interview on Angel 96.1 FM in Kumasi.
“I have my own brand, and I cannot reduce myself just to work for somebody and be treated like a dancer,” he added.
His comments come amid a disagreement between Lil Win and some members of his former management team, after the actor described them as “square pegs in round holes” and questioned their education and professionalism.
Zack rejected the characterisation, arguing that professionalism in Ghana’s entertainment industry should not be measured solely by formal education or by whether individuals meet a particular standard.
“Who in this industry is completely professional from top to bottom?” he asked.
He said people working in the industry possessed different strengths and weaknesses and should not be dismissed simply because of their educational backgrounds.
Zack, however, acknowledged Lil Win’s considerable talent and contribution to Ghana’s entertainment industry.
He described the actor as “very good and talented” but said his approach to certain situations could create difficulties, particularly during engagements with corporate partners.
According to him, there were occasions during corporate meetings when he had to intervene to prevent Lil Win from making comments that could undermine negotiations.
“Sometimes, when we went for corporate meetings, I had to tell him not to speak. I had to stop him from talking because of the way he approached certain things,” he said.
Zack also disclosed that veteran public relations practitioner Okatayie Afrifa had at one point been part of Lil Win’s team as a public relations officer.
Despite the disagreements, Zack maintained that his criticism of Lil Win’s conduct did not diminish his assessment of the actor’s entertainment abilities.
He said Lil Win’s talent was beyond question but suggested that managing a successful entertainment brand required more than talent, including effective communication and professional relationships.
