The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has reinforced security operations in Nkwanta Municipality with the deployment of an additional specialised police team and a multi-purpose armoured vehicle.
The deployment, which took effect on October 14, is intended to strengthen the existing security presence and enhance ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the Oti Region municipality.
In a statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police John Nchor, Public Affairs Officer for the Oti Region, the Ghana Police Service said the additional personnel would support joint Police-Military operations in the area.
The specialised team is expected to complement officers already stationed in Nkwanta as security agencies intensify efforts to maintain stability and respond to security concerns in the municipality.
The provision of the multi-purpose armoured vehicle is also expected to strengthen the operational capacity of the security personnel deployed to the area.
The Police said the latest deployment formed part of measures to reinforce ongoing security operations rather than replace the personnel already on the ground.
The move underscores the Police Service’s continued efforts to strengthen security coordination with the military and maintain law and order in Nkwanta Municipality.
However, the statement did not provide further details on the specific operational assignments of the newly deployed team or indicate how long the additional security personnel would remain in the area.
