Outspoken media personality and journalist, Okatakyie Afrifra-Mensah, has once again been arrested—this time by the Cyber Crime Unit of the Ghana Police Service. His latest apprehension comes just days after his detention by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) on March 19.
The reason for his recent arrest remains undisclosed, fueling speculation and concern among his supporters. Given his reputation for openly criticizing the government, his repeated encounters with law enforcement have raised questions about whether he is being targeted for his outspoken views.
Former Greater Accra Regional Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Moses Abor, confirmed Okatakyie’s arrest to Asaase News but did not provide further details.
As concerns grow over press freedom and the circumstances surrounding his detentions, many await further clarification from authorities on the nature of the case against him.
