Kadjebi, Oti Region – Residents in Kadjebi are struggling to access essential government services as the strike by the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) entered its ninth consecutive day on Tuesday, March 16, 2026. Public offices across the district, including the Kadjebi District Assembly, the Births and Deaths Registry, the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit, and the Department of Food and Agriculture (DoFA), remained closed, leaving administrative services at a standstill.
A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) revealed deserted offices with no staff to attend to the public. Residents expressed frustration over the prolonged disruption, noting that the closure had stalled routine activities such as document processing, agricultural support, and sanitation services.
Mr Emmanuel Doe, Kadjebi CLOGSAG Chairman, confirmed that the strike continues nationwide, citing unresolved concerns over conditions of service. He explained that a meeting between the National Executive Council (NEC) of CLOGSAG and government officials on March 11 ended without an agreement.
“As it stands now, the strike remains in force until we receive a directive from our national leadership,” Mr Doe said, adding that district members are fully complying with the national executives’ instructions. He also noted that the NEC is scheduled to meet with government officials and the National Labour Commission (NLC) on Wednesday, March 18, to determine the next steps.
Local residents voiced concern about the growing inconvenience. Many rely on government departments for critical services, including registration of births and deaths, agricultural guidance, and environmental health support. They urged both the government and CLOGSAG leadership to expedite negotiations to end the strike.
