The Parents-Teacher Association (PTA) of Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School (KASEC) in the Oti Region has elected a new executive body to steer its affairs for the next two years, with a renewed focus on strengthening collaboration between parents, teachers and school management.
The newly elected leadership is headed by Mr Bismarck Kojo Bediako as Chairman, with Mr Samuel Ledi serving as Vice-Chairman. Other executives include Mr Desire Gbedivlo (Secretary), Mr Zakari Ibrahim (Treasurer), Mr Samuel Kofi Manu (Organiser), Ms Xordakor Sewornu (Financial Secretary), Ms Gifty Yesutor Megbenu (Assistant Secretary), and Mr Trinity Gagbe as Ex-officio Member. The Headmaster of KASEC, Mr Emmanuel Kwabla Cole, serves as an executive member by virtue of his office.
The executives were officially sworn into office by the School Chaplain, Rev. Winfred Mensah, who administered the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Office.
In his acceptance remarks on behalf of the team, Mr Bediako, a retired educationist with expertise in Special Education, expressed gratitude to members of the association for the trust placed in them and pledged to work diligently to improve the fortunes of the school.
“We will do our best to move KASEC to the highest level,” he said, calling for strong cooperation from parents, teachers and stakeholders to help achieve the association’s goals.
The Chairman of the KASEC Board of Governors, Professor Christian Anthony Krueger, described the PTA as a vital partner in the effective management and development of educational institutions.
He emphasised that adolescence is a crucial stage in student development and called for closer collaboration between parents and teachers to provide proper guidance and counselling to learners.
Prof Krueger, a retired Associate Professor of Science Education at the University of Cape Coast, also urged teachers to maintain discipline and instil strong moral values in students as a way of improving academic performance and creating a conducive learning environment.
The Oti Regional Senior High School Coordinator of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr Tennyson Asiedu, charged the newly elected executives to discharge their duties with integrity, transparency and commitment.
He reminded them that their election came with responsibility and urged them to prioritise the welfare and development of the school.
“Do not disappoint those who voted for you. Work together with the school authorities, parents and teachers to promote the welfare and progress of KASEC,” he advised.
The election is expected to enhance cooperation among stakeholders and support ongoing efforts to improve academic standards, infrastructure development and overall teaching and learning outcomes at KASEC.
