As the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) approaches, the Keta Municipality in the Volta Region is preparing to host 1,498 candidates from 54 basic schools across the area.
The candidates, drawn from 42 public and 12 private schools, will write their exams at seven designated centers, including KetaBusco, Ketasco, Aborsco, Anyasco, Atiasec, Afiasec, and Kedzi Basic School.
Ferdinand Amuzu, Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Education Service in Keta, assured that all necessary materials and arrangements have been put in place to ensure a smooth and successful examination process. “This is not our first time organizing the BECE, and we are well-prepared to handle any challenges that may arise,” he stated.
Among the schools, Kedzi AME Zion Basic and Ketasco Basic B schools have the largest number of candidates, each presenting 63 students, while Day Star Preparatory School has the fewest with six candidates.
The gender distribution includes 720 boys and 778 girls sitting for the exams. Mr. Amuzu encouraged students to remain focused and calm, reminding them that the BECE is similar to the exams they regularly write in school.
He also issued a stern warning against any form of examination malpractice, emphasizing strict adherence to examination rules to avoid penalties such as cancellation of papers or dismissal.
Acknowledging the efforts of teachers, parents, and all stakeholders in preparing the candidates, Mr. Amuzu called on them to continue offering support throughout the examination period.
The BECE will cover a wide range of subjects including Social Science, Computing, English Language, Career Technology, Ghanaian Language, Mathematics, French, Creative Arts, Religious and Moral Education, Science, and Arabic.
This year’s BECE in Keta reflects the community’s commitment to education and excellence as thousands of young learners take a critical step toward their academic futures.
