Maxwell Kofi Jumah, the former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, has been transferred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Accra as investigations intensify into alleged financial misconduct during his tenure.
Jumah was apprehended on Sunday, June 29, 2025, while celebrating his birthday in Kumasi, marking a significant turn in the ongoing probe into suspected irregularities at the state-owned distillery.
Initially detained at the Ashanti Regional Police Command following his arrest, Jumah’s relocation to Accra signals heightened scrutiny by law enforcement authorities, who are seeking further clarifications on serious accusations against him.
This latest move follows a police operation on May 15 aimed at reclaiming state-owned vehicles allegedly under Jumah’s control, an attempt that was unsuccessful due to his absence at the time.
Insiders familiar with the investigation reveal that Jumah is being questioned over purported unauthorized sales of assets and suspicious vehicle transactions conducted under his leadership, issues that have cast a shadow over the management of GIHOC Distilleries.
As the CID takes over the case, public attention remains fixed on the developments, underscoring the government’s resolve to hold officials accountable and ensure transparency in managing public enterprises.
