Concerns are mounting at Kpone’s landing beaches as members of the Upper Landing Beach Committee push for an independent probe into the management of premix fuel revenues.
The Committee says former leaders of the Kpone premix fuel committee failed to properly account for proceeds from fuel sales to fisherfolk, raising questions about how the funds were used.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Committee Secretary Mr Michael Mensah Thompson urged the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Chief Executive to step in and commission an investigation into the previous administration’s handling of the funds.
He also raised concerns over the existence of separate bank accounts operated by both the former and current leaderships, describing the arrangement as irregular and in need of urgent review.
According to him, transparency in premix fuel management is critical to maintaining trust among fisherfolk, who rely heavily on the system for their livelihoods.
The Committee believes a full investigation and stronger accountability measures will help restore confidence and improve the management of premix fuel operations across the area.
