President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fast-tracking development in the Eastern Region, highlighting the area as a key beneficiary of his second-term agenda.
Speaking at the Koforidua Jackson Park on Sunday, July 20, during a stop on his nationwide “Thank You Tour,” Mahama assured the crowd that campaign promises made to the region would not be forgotten, but delivered with urgency and integrity.
“With the grace of God, we will fulfil all our promises to the Eastern Region and Ghanaians as a whole,” the President declared, signaling that the region would play a central role in his government’s developmental blueprint.
The rally, which drew thousands of enthusiastic supporters and party leaders, became a platform for Mahama to renew focus on infrastructure, education, job creation, and healthcare—priority sectors he had championed throughout the 2024 campaign.
Traditional leaders and community representatives in attendance welcomed the President’s visit and used the occasion to call attention to specific regional challenges, including deteriorating roads, high youth unemployment, and limited access to quality health services.
The President’s commitment to tackling these concerns was seen as a timely assurance for residents who have long called for greater government attention. His speech was widely interpreted as an attempt not just to thank voters but to re-anchor the Eastern Region in the heart of the national development agenda.
While the event maintained the celebratory tone of a victory lap, the undertone was clear: the Mahama-led administration aims to convert electoral goodwill into tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary citizens—starting with regions like Eastern that played a pivotal role in his return to power.
