President John Dramani Mahama has hinted at significant economic gains in the upcoming mid-year budget review, assuring Ghanaians of more positive news as the government’s recovery efforts continue to show results.

Addressing a gathering in Wa on Thursday, May 15, as part of his thank-you tour, Mahama highlighted the progress made since his administration took office, emphasizing that the government’s strategic focus on stabilizing the economy is beginning to bear fruit.

Signs of Recovery

The President pointed to recent improvements in the local currency’s performance and a gradual easing of inflationary pressures as encouraging signs that the government’s economic interventions are taking hold.

“Our deliberate focus on stabilizing the economy is paying off. The cedi is showing signs of strength, and the cost of living pressures are gradually easing,” Mahama told the crowd, reflecting a growing sense of optimism about the country’s financial direction.

Coordinated Leadership

Mahama credited the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana for their leadership in executing the government’s economic recovery plan, describing their close collaboration as a critical factor in the ongoing turnaround.

“I want to acknowledge the tremendous efforts of the Honorable Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, whose coordinated approach has been instrumental in driving this recovery,” he said.

Focus on Efficiency

The President also highlighted the government’s commitment to reducing public expenditure while directing funds towards priority sectors, as outlined in the NDC manifesto.

“The budget we presented in March was designed to cut waste and channel our resources into critical sectors that will drive sustainable growth,” Mahama noted, reinforcing his administration’s pledge to create jobs and improve public services.

Looking Ahead

With the mid-year budget review set for August, Mahama expressed confidence that the ongoing efforts will yield further positive results, providing Ghanaians with renewed hope for a stronger, more resilient economy.

“I believe that when the Finance Minister presents the mid-year budget in August, Ghanaians will hear even more good news,” he concluded, signaling a steady path toward economic recovery.

As the country moves toward this critical fiscal milestone, expectations are high for continued progress in stabilizing the economy and reducing the financial burden on ordinary citizens.
