Construction works on the Jinijini-Sampa Road Project in the Berekum West District of the Bono Region are facing delays following the theft of gravel from sections of the road corridor.
The contractor, Rango Construction Limited, has warned that the continued loss of construction materials could further slow progress and undermine efforts to complete the project within the expected timeframe.
The company’s Public Relations Officer, Felix Agyei, said the theft was creating operational challenges for the construction team and appealed to residents along the project corridor to help protect materials intended for the road works.
He made the appeal at Jinijini during a ceremony at which the Berekum West District Assembly presented working tools, equipment and other forms of assistance to 57 Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).
Mr Agyei stressed that safeguarding construction materials was essential to maintaining the pace of work and preventing avoidable setbacks.
He called on residents to cooperate with the contractor and support measures to protect resources deployed to the project.
## Project completion targeted for 2028
The Jinijini-Sampa Road Project forms part of the government’s Big Push infrastructure programme, which seeks to improve road connectivity and strengthen transportation networks across the country.
When completed, the road is expected to facilitate the movement of people and goods, improve access between beneficiary communities and support economic activities along the corridor.
Mr Agyei expressed optimism that the project would be completed by the end of 2028, but urged residents to help prevent further disruptions by protecting construction materials.
He said the availability and proper management of materials were critical to ensuring that construction proceeded according to schedule.
The theft of gravel, he indicated, was an additional challenge that could affect the pace of work if not addressed.
The contractor’s appeal comes as construction continues on the strategic road corridor, with the company relying on community cooperation to protect project resources and support timely completion.
