Graeme McDowell produced a remarkable repeat feat on Friday at the LIV Golf Singapore, becoming the first player in the circuit’s history to record two hole-in-ones on the tour.
The Northern Irishman aced the par-three second hole during his round in Singapore, marking an extraordinary moment just a week after he achieved the same shot at the LIV event in Hong Kong.
Despite the highlight moment, McDowell finished with a two-under-par 70, leaving him tied for 15th place at three under heading into the weekend.
The ace also continued an unusual tradition on the LIV circuit — buying drinks for fellow players after a hole-in-one. McDowell joked that the latest feat would once again come with a costly celebration.
“It cost me a very expensive bottle of wine last week in Hong Kong, and I guess it’s going to cost me another very expensive bottle of wine,” he said.
Elsewhere, fellow Northern Irish golfer Tom McKibbin endured a tougher day, carding a one-over-par 72. The round left him tied for 24th at one under on the leaderboard.
At the top of the standings, McKibbin’s team captain Bryson DeChambeau set the pace. The American powered his way to 10 under par, taking the individual lead into the weekend as he aims to convert his strong start into victory.
While DeChambeau holds the advantage, McDowell’s rare back-to-back aces have become one of the most talked-about moments of the tournament — a piece of LIV Golf history that may be difficult to repeat.
