A devastating head-on collision between a passenger bus and a tomato-laden truck has left seven people dead and several others seriously injured near Babatokuma in the Kintampo Municipality.
The fatal crash, which occurred in the early hours of Good Friday, April 3, 2026, involved a southbound passenger vehicle and a truck travelling toward Burkina Faso.
The impact caused extensive damage to both vehicles, with some passengers trapped beneath mangled seats and debris. Rescue efforts by emergency responders and Good Samaritans were required to extricate victims from the wreckage.
The injured were initially taken to health facilities in Kintampo, Wenchi, and Techiman, while critically wounded victims were referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and the Tamale Teaching Hospital for specialised treatment.
Authorities have since launched investigations to determine the circumstances leading to the collision, as concerns grow over road safety on major highways during the Easter period.
