The Second Vice President of the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG), Mr. Daniel Kwaku Mensah, has raised concerns over the upcoming vetting process for the position of General Secretary, describing it as a unilateral decision made without due process.
In a communique addressed to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr. Mensah criticized the National President of NALAG for scheduling the vetting on March 21, 2025, without consulting the National Executive Committee (NEC). He argued that this action violates Article 61 of the Association’s constitution, which mandates that such processes involve full participation and approval of the NEC to ensure transparency and fairness.
According to Mr. Mensah, the decision undermines the principles of good governance and inclusivity within NALAG. He called for an immediate suspension of the vetting process until the proper constitutional procedures are followed.
“The credibility and integrity of NALAG must be preserved through adherence to our constitutional processes,” he emphasized, urging all stakeholders to remain vigilant and committed to upholding the democratic values of the Association.
