The Ghana Corporate Brands Awards 2025 held on Saturday, August 23 at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, became more than a celebration of corporate excellence as it doubled as a call for a national rebranding drive.

Delivering the keynote address, Deputy CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Mr. Abdul Razak Baba, urged corporate leaders to become ambassadors of Ghana’s image, stressing that the country must be recognized globally as more than just cocoa and gold.

“Ghana is a country of ideas, a country of creativity, and a country of excellence,” Mr. Baba declared, adding that the government under President John Dramani Mahama was repositioning the national brand through the “twin wheels” of economic transformation.

He noted that branding was not an accident but the result of vision, consistency, and resilience. “Successful brands not only dominate categories; they become part of our everyday language,” he said, underscoring how iconic names shape culture and national identity.

The Deputy CEO further called on businesses to embrace digital transformation to ensure their brands remain competitive, noting that GIPC’s mission was to make Ghana “the investment destination of choice.”

The awards, organized by Maven Communications Ghana Ltd under the theme “Mastering the Future: Recognizing Excellence through Strategic Branding and Leadership,” celebrated organizations excelling in leadership, innovation, and market influence.

Bel Beverages, Indo-Industries Ghana Ltd, B5 Plus, and Hale Pharmacy’s CEO, Mr. Kwame Preko, were among the notable winners.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ho West, Mr. Francis Proferr Dusey underscored the importance or recognizing the contributions of businesses towards the development of the Ghanaian economy.

He mentioned that that the awards program was designed to be inclusive and engaging, allowing industry professionals and the public to contribute to recognizing and selecting outstanding business achievements.

He detailed that industry experts rigorously evaluated award candidates through a thorough market survey. This survey was conducted among professionals and was representative of middle- and high-income earners.

Mr. Francis Proferr Dusey emphasized that the winners were evaluated against several criteria, including Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Brand Consistency, Innovation and Technology Adoption, Brand Appeal and Goodwill, Leadership and Governance, Product/Service Quality, and Market Impact and Growth.

In attendance were the Greater Accra Regional Minister with his delegation, Professor Joshua Alabi, Board Chairman of GCB Bank (represented by Prof. Mrs Goski Alabi, Acting Vice Chancellor of Accra Metropolitan University), Madam Esther A.N. Cobbah, President of the Institute of Public Relations Ghana and founder of Stratcomm Africa, Abdul Razak Baba, Deputy CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Mark Hayford, Managing Director of White Sands Travel Consult, and Mr. Evans Hockey, Secretary to the GCBA Awarding Board.

Also present were Dr. Maxwell Gakpo, Dean and Acting Pro Vice Chancellor of Accra Metropolitan University, Mr. Abdul-Kadiri Aliou of GIPC, as well as traditional rulers including chiefs and queen mothers.
