The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) is strengthening its collaboration with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) in a strategic push to boost public education and improve transparency in the petroleum downstream sector.
This renewed alliance, reaffirmed by NPA’s Communications Department, signals a shift in how the Authority plans to engage the public on key energy matters such as fuel pricing, regulatory updates, safety standards, and consumer rights.
Speaking on the development, Mr. Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe underscored GBC’s critical role as a national broadcaster in shaping public understanding of energy sector reforms. “Our partnership with GBC remains pivotal in ensuring the public has access to credible and timely information,” he stated.
The partnership is expected to move beyond traditional media relations and delve into co-creating targeted programmes, community outreach initiatives, and interactive platforms that make petroleum sector policies more accessible to ordinary Ghanaians.
With public trust and accountability high on its agenda, the NPA believes media engagement is not just a communication strategy but a tool for regulatory effectiveness. As Ghana navigates complex energy dynamics, the Authority sees institutional collaboration—particularly with the media—as essential to achieving sustainable development in the sector.
This partnership also comes at a time when consumer interest in fuel pricing and petroleum product quality is at an all-time high, highlighting the urgent need for reliable public education channels.
