The Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament has granted the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) permission to engage two Members of Parliament (MPs) – Mustapha Yussif and Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A Plus – in connection with an ongoing investigation.
In a letter signed by the Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, the MPs have been directed to appear for a preliminary meeting with NIB officials on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The meeting will take place at the Sir Emmanuel Charles Quist Conference Room in Parliament.
The approval follows a formal request from the NIB, seeking to question the two MPs as part of an ongoing investigation. The nature of the investigation and the specifics of the MPs’ involvement have not been disclosed.
This development marks a significant moment in the relationship between Ghana’s Parliament and security agencies, with the Speaker’s approval enabling the NIB to carry out its duties in Parliament’s premises. It highlights the increasing collaboration between legislative bodies and national security institutions in matters requiring investigation.
The MPs’ participation in the inquiry is expected to shed light on key issues, though further details of the investigation remain confidential at this time. The meeting is anticipated to be an essential step in the progress of the investigation, but the full scope and outcome will unfold in the coming weeks.
