Ghanaian actress Pascaline Edwards has opened up about her journey in the entertainment industry, revealing how she navigated the demands of young motherhood while forging a successful career. Speaking on Neat 100.9 FM, Edwards shared how she entered the film industry with a six-month-old baby in tow—a fact that went largely unnoticed due to her professionalism and poise.
“I came into the industry when I had just given birth to a six-month-old baby, but the way I carried myself, nobody knew I had a child. I was young at the time,” she recounted. Her ability to maintain composure and keep her personal life separate from her professional persona became a hallmark of her early career.
Edwards also addressed criticisms she faced for prioritizing investments in clothing and jewellery over immediate family expansion. She explained that her focus was on building a solid foundation for her family, supporting four siblings in the absence of her parents, and creating long-term stability. “My plans were to raise an empire to help build my family, sort them out so they all would be comfortable,” she noted.
Over time, many of her early critics came to appreciate her vision, acknowledging her resilience and foresight. Edwards’ story became even more remarkable considering she became a mother at the junior high school level, while many of her peers were still navigating primary school life.
Reflecting on her journey, Edwards credited her elder brother’s guidance and the lessons learned from her time in the entertainment industry for shaping her into a determined and resilient woman. Her story serves as a powerful example of how young women in Ghana can successfully balance personal responsibilities and professional ambitions with discipline, strategic thinking, and strong support systems.
