Retired police officer and Wa West MP, Peter Lanchene Toobu, has commended former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare for his leadership in enhancing police communication and safeguarding the integrity of the service.
In an interview on Asaase Radio, Toobu highlighted Dampare’s proactive and hands-on approach, emphasizing its role in rebuilding public trust in the police.
“We saw an IGP who was interactive, engaging, and took full responsibility for police communication. Under him, crime levels dropped, and police integrity was upheld,” he noted.
Comparing Dampare’s tenure to past administrations, Toobu pointed out that previous police commanders sometimes issued inaccurate statements, which undermined the service’s credibility. He praised Dampare for centralizing police communication at the headquarters, ensuring consistency and reliability in public messaging.
“Unlike in the past, when misleading statements from commanders caused more harm than good, Dampare ensured that all communication came directly from headquarters to uphold credibility and integrity,” he added.
Toobu’s remarks underscore the significance of effective leadership and structured communication in maintaining public confidence in law enforcement.
