The pregnant News Editor of Obaatanpa Radio has been discharged from the hospital after receiving medical treatment following the attack on the station’s premises in Kasoa.
The journalist was rushed to the hospital after suffering severe shock during the incident, sparking fears that the trauma could affect her pregnancy.
Speaking in an interview, the Head of News Production at Obaatanpa Radio, Nana Yaw Yeboah Asiama, confirmed that she has been discharged and is recovering steadily.
He expressed optimism that the incident would not have any long-term impact on her pregnancy and urged staff members to remain calm while police continue investigations into the attack.
Meanwhile, the Central East Regional Police Command has deployed security personnel to the station to ensure the safety of workers and prevent any further disturbances.
The incident occurred after management of Obaatanpa Radio alleged that the Municipal Chief Executive for Awutu Senya East, Seth Serwonoo Banini, the Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Richard Kofi Asiedu, and several others stormed the station.
According to management, the group reacted to discussions on the station’s morning show relating to internal matters within the NDC.
The station alleged that after entering the premises, the individuals verbally and physically assaulted the morning show host and producer before forcing their way into the live studio. They reportedly switched off the station’s transmission, ordered staff to vacate the premises and locked up the facility, bringing operations to a halt.
Management said the attack has heightened concerns over the safety of journalists and media workers, renewing calls for stronger protection of press freedom and media institutions in the country.
