President John Dramani Mahama paid a hospital visit to survivors of the recent Burkina Faso terrorist attack at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, offering condolences and promising that the government would cover all medical expenses.
The survivors, Ghanaian tomato traders, were among a group ambushed by armed assailants while travelling on a truck. Reports indicate that the attackers lined up passengers, killed several, and set the vehicle ablaze. Seven Ghanaians lost their lives and have already been buried.
Accompanied by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, President Mahama met the victims immediately after returning from official duties in Takoradi, seeking firsthand updates on their condition.
The survivors were airlifted home by the Ghana Armed Forces and are currently receiving medical treatment and counselling. The President reassured families and victims of the state’s commitment to support them through recovery, emphasizing the government’s determination to safeguard Ghanaians abroad.
The visit highlights Ghana’s prompt response to citizens affected by cross-border violence and underscores the administration’s efforts to provide care and justice for victims of terrorism.
