The Rebecca Foundation has trained 21 vulnerable women in batik tie and dye production under its Terema Initiative to help them build sustainable livelihoods and achieve financial independence.
The five-day programme, organised in partnership with the Presbyterian Church of Ghana through its Department of Development and Social Services, targeted widows, single mothers and unemployed women from the Ga and Ga West Presbyteries. Beneficiaries were also given start-up toolkits to help them launch their own businesses after the training.
Speaking at the closing ceremony in Accra, Sheela Sakyi Oppong said the initiative reflects former First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo’s commitment to empowering women through practical skills training. Officials of the church said they would continue supporting participants with training in bookkeeping, digital marketing and business management to help them grow successful enterprises.
