Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC has launched a new women-focused leadership development platform aimed at strengthening female representation in senior management and executive positions within the Bank.
The Blue Ladies Association, launched under the theme “Raising Women, Shaping Leadership, Securing the Future,” is designed to identify, mentor and equip women employees with the skills and exposure needed to advance into leadership roles.
The initiative forms part of the Bank’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) agenda and reflects its broader commitment to creating equal opportunities for career growth and professional development.
A statement from Republic Bank said the Association would provide a structured platform for mentorship, coaching, networking, leadership training, wellness activities and knowledge-sharing sessions to support women in reaching their full potential.
Speaking at the launch, Managing Director of Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC, Dr. Benjamin Dzoboku, described the initiative as a strategic investment in the Bank’s future leadership.
He said creating intentional opportunities for women was essential to building a strong and inclusive organisation.
“Leadership flourishes when opportunities are intentional and accessible to everyone. The Blue Ladies Association reflects our commitment to developing the next generation of women leaders by providing the mentorship, exposure and support they need to thrive,” he said.
Dr. Dzoboku added that investing in women’s development would strengthen the Bank’s leadership structure while reinforcing its culture of excellence, inclusion and equal opportunity.
The launch brought together professionals and leaders from Ghana’s banking and corporate sectors, including Bishop Mrs. Patricia Sappor, Immediate Past and First Female President of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (Ghana), and Mrs. Doris Ahiati, Director of Republic Investments (Ghana) PLC, who participated virtually in a panel discussion.
The discussion focused on critical issues affecting women’s advancement in leadership, including mentorship, resilience, authentic leadership, continuous learning and the importance of preparing women for senior roles in the financial services industry.
Prof. Mrs. Vera Ogeh Lassey Fiador, speaking on behalf of the Board, commended the Bank for establishing a platform dedicated to nurturing female talent and building a sustainable leadership pipeline.
She described the initiative as an important milestone in promoting gender inclusion and strengthening opportunities for women within the organisation.
Participants welcomed the establishment of the Association and expressed their commitment to creating a supportive network where women can mentor, inspire and empower one another.
Republic Bank said the Blue Ladies Association aligns with its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitments and its vision of building a workplace where employees are empowered to grow, lead and contribute meaningfully.
The Bank expects the initiative to serve as a catalyst for developing confident and future-ready women leaders who will contribute to the growth of Republic Bank and Ghana’s financial services sector.
