The editorial board of CURRENT ISSUES Newspaper wishes to issue a formal retraction and unreserved apology concerning our earlier publication titled “Leaked Confidential Document Exposes… How National Security Moved 706 ECG Containers To Warehouse @ Abelemkpe,” dated April 3, 2025.
Upon further clarification and fact-checking, it has come to light that the content and intent of the said confidential letter were misrepresented in our initial report.
Our report erroneously suggested that the containers were successfully moved to a warehouse in Abelemkpe and linked the development to an alleged scheme involving corruption and theft.
However, subsequent investigations have revealed that the directive was part of a preliminary proposal under review, and no containers were mishandled by National Security or any other state agency for that matter.
We also acknowledge that we could not independently verified details in that letter at the time of publication, including the estimated value of the goods and assertions of media suppression.
These inclusions were speculative and regrettably contributed to unnecessary public anxiety and reputational harm to individuals and institutions named.
As a media house committed to responsible journalism and national development, we sincerely apologize to:
The Office of the National Security Coordinator
The Ministry of Energy
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG)
President John Dramani Mahama and his administration
Our cherished readers
We reaffirm our commitment to accuracy, fairness, and integrity in all our publications.
