Sariki Abass Giwa, also known as Abass Adamu Giwa, has strongly denied allegations circulating on social media linking him to the demolition of a house belonging to an individual at East Legon in Accra.
In a statement responding to the video, Mr. Giwa said he has “absolutely no knowledge of, involvement in, or connection with” the alleged demolition and described attempts to associate him with the incident as false and damaging to his reputation.
According to him, his involvement in construction and real estate has given him a deep appreciation of the financial and emotional investment required to put up a property.
He said he purchases building materials, including cement, regularly for his projects and therefore would never support or encourage the destruction of another person’s property.
Mr. Giwa also cautioned the public against automatically associating him with allegations involving individuals referred to as “Sariki,” stressing that several people bear the title.
He said such assumptions, without proper verification, have contributed to misinformation and caused unnecessary damage to his reputation.
The businessman further cited what he described as a similar incident involving Angel FM Kumasi, where he alleged that he was falsely portrayed as being responsible for an unlawful act.
He said he subsequently instructed his lawyers to take legal action, following which the station issued an apology after an intervention by his legal team. He added that the matter remains under legal review.
On the East Legon incident, Mr. Giwa said he does not have the authority or inclination to direct people to destroy the homes, businesses or properties of others.
“Ghana is governed by the rule of law, and every citizen is expected to act within its legal framework,” he said.
Mr. Giwa said information available to him indicates that the individual believed to be connected to the incident has been reported to the police, with the appropriate authorities investigating the matter.
He therefore urged the public to refrain from speculation and allow the police to establish the facts through due process.
The businessman also referred to what he described as attempts to link his name to the Nsawam murder case, saying subsequent developments established that the allegations against him were baseless and that his name was cleared.
Mr. Giwa has consequently warned individuals, media organisations and platforms against publishing or circulating what he considers defamatory allegations about him without evidence.
He said his legal team has been instructed to pursue all available legal remedies against persons or organisations that publish, circulate or promote defamatory statements concerning him.
He reiterated his commitment to conducting his affairs lawfully and transparently and urged members of the public to verify information before sharing it, particularly while investigations into ongoing incidents are still underway.
Mr. Giwa maintains that he has no connection whatsoever to the alleged East Legon demolition and has called for the matter to be left to the appropriate law-enforcement authorities to investigate.
