As the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) approaches from June 11 to 17, 2025, Dr. George Sipa-Adja Yankey, former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Gas Company and ex-Minister of Health, has urged candidates, particularly those in the Ellembelle district, to prioritize discipline and responsible use of technology in their exam preparations.
In a statement shared with the Ghana News Agency, Dr. Sipa Yankey highlighted the BECE as a critical milestone in students’ educational journeys—a gateway to senior high school admission and future personal growth.
He stressed the need for candidates to focus their energies on their studies, warning against distractions that could undermine their success. Emphasizing the role of technology, Dr. Sipa Yankey encouraged the young candidates to harness the power of the internet for research and learning, while cautioning strongly against the consumption of unproductive and harmful content, such as pornographic and ungodly materials.
“Success in the BECE depends not only on knowledge but also on the choices students make regarding how they spend their time,” he noted. “By staying disciplined and making positive use of available resources, these young learners can unlock their full potential and build a foundation for future leadership.”
Dr. Sipa Yankey’s message comes as Ghana’s Junior High School students prepare to sit for exams that will significantly influence their academic and professional trajectories. He urged them to view education as the key to self-actualization and societal contribution.
With the BECE around the corner, the call for discipline, focus, and responsible technology use serves as a timely reminder for candidates striving for success in their academic and life pursuits.
