Residents of Kuroboi and Kulfuo in the Sissala East Municipality are set to benefit from improved access to healthcare and education following the completion of two major development projects.
The Sissala East Municipal Assembly has handed over a newly constructed Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Kuroboi and a three-unit classroom block at Kulfuo Friwa Basic School.
The projects, funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), were formally handed over by the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Adamu Yakubu.
The Kuroboi CHPS compound includes a maternity ward and has been furnished and connected to the national electricity grid.
The classroom block at Kulfuo Friwa Basic School also comes with ancillary facilities, including an office, staff common room, washrooms, furniture for pupils and electricity.
Mr Yakubu said the projects were part of the first phase of development initiatives awarded on contract in 2025 and reflected the Assembly’s commitment to improving access to essential social infrastructure.
He urged the beneficiary communities to take ownership of the facilities and develop a strong maintenance culture to protect the investments.
The MCE also appealed to residents to continue supporting local authorities and their representatives, including through prayers, which he described as important for sustainable development.
While expressing appreciation for the new CHPS compound, an elder of Kuroboi appealed for urgent intervention to resolve persistent telecommunications challenges affecting the community.
The elder said improved network connectivity would significantly enhance communication and development in the area.
At Kulfuo, Alhaji Seidu Limann, who spoke on behalf of the chief, thanked the Assembly for the classroom block and urged residents to support efforts to attract further development.
The Member of Parliament for Sissala East, Mr Issah Mohammed Bataglia, assured residents of Kuroboi that efforts were underway to secure reliable telecommunications services for the community.
He said several other development initiatives were being pursued across the constituency, although he would announce them only after the necessary approvals had been obtained.
Mr Bataglia also disclosed plans to upgrade the Tarsor/Kulfuo Basic School into a Technical Senior High School to provide young people with practical and vocational training.
The projects are expected to strengthen access to basic education and primary healthcare in the beneficiary communities.
