The Amansie South District branch of the Ghana National Association of Small-Scale Miners (GNASSM) has made a substantial contribution to educational development by donating GHC 50,000 to Manso Adubia Senior High School.
The funds, presented by the District Chairman, Mr. Kwaku Abonee, will be used to complete a long-awaited teachers’ bungalow, a project seen as critical to improving staff accommodation and morale. The move underscores the association’s commitment to investing in the long-term growth of the community beyond mining.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mr. Abonee highlighted the importance of supporting education as a means of building a resilient local economy and fostering social progress.
“Education is the backbone of any community, and we recognize that a well-supported school system can transform the lives of young people and secure the future of our district,” he said. “Government alone cannot address all the challenges facing our schools, which is why we see this donation as part of our broader commitment to community development.”
Mr. Abonee further noted that the association’s support for education reflects its desire to be seen not just as a business entity but as a partner in the overall progress of the district.
The headmaster of Manso Adubia Senior High School, Mr. Theophilus Yeboah, expressed profound gratitude for the timely intervention, noting that the teachers’ bungalow would play a crucial role in attracting and retaining quality teaching staff, thereby enhancing educational outcomes.
“This project is a critical need for our school, and the support from GNASSM will make a significant difference. We still have more work to do, but this contribution moves us closer to our goal,” he said, calling on other organizations, alumni, and individuals to follow the miners’ example.
The donation comes as part of a broader trend of private sector involvement in local development, reflecting a growing recognition that businesses thrive best in well-educated, stable communities.
