The Social Workers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has been recognised for its unwavering commitment to ethical practice and professional excellence, receiving the Outstanding Service in Promoting Ethical Standards and Professional Excellence Award at the third Ghana Development Awards.
In a statement, SWAG highlighted that the accolade reflects the vital role social workers play in protecting vulnerable populations, strengthening families, and promoting human dignity across the country.
“This award is a tribute to the dedication of social workers in Ghana and beyond, who work tirelessly in communities, institutions, and organisations to uphold social justice and support those in need,” the association said.
SWAG further noted that the recognition underscores years of efforts to foster professional ethics, build the capacity of social workers, and contribute to national social and economic development.
The association emphasized that its work continues to be central to promoting well-being, resilience, and inclusivity in Ghanaian society, ensuring that social workers remain at the forefront of building a just and equitable nation.
By honouring SWAG, the Ghana Development Awards spotlighted the often-overlooked contributions of social workers and reaffirmed their critical role in shaping a compassionate and ethically grounded society.
