In a powerful show of mentorship and support, members of the Star Old Students Association (SOSA) returned to their alma mater in Tema to inspire and guide the next generation of Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates at Star Basic School.
The engagement session, which focused not just on exam readiness but on life beyond school, covered critical topics such as digital skills for the future, unlocking personal potential, overcoming exam anxiety, and planning for life after basic school.
Madam Rose Nkrumah, Deputy Director of Human Resource at the Ledzokuku Municipal Education Directorate, urged students to face the exams with faith, determination, and clarity of purpose. She highlighted the importance of maintaining a positive mindset through prayer, support systems, and a focus on long-term goals.
“Avoid negative influences that may distract or discourage you. Surround yourself with those who lift you up,” she advised.
Justice Nyankom, a Child Development Specialist and proud SOSA member, emphasized discipline and resilience as the building blocks of success. He encouraged the students to believe in themselves and remain committed to their academic journey.
Fellow alumna Julia Acquah echoed the message of long-term thinking, stressing that discipline and continuous learning are more valuable than short-term exam results. She also introduced the importance of financial independence, urging students to begin cultivating creativity and smart decision-making as early steps toward future success.
Headmistress Mrs. Felicia Akpene Dogbe praised both the alumni and teachers for their contributions to the growth of the candidates, noting that such mentorship reinforces the values of hard work and perseverance among the students.
The session served as a holistic preparation for the candidates—equipping them not just for exams, but for life ahead, with lessons from those who once walked in their shoes.
