A young woman in the Nkwanta South Municipality is appealing for urgent support after surviving a deadly night attack that claimed the lives of her mother and younger sister, leaving her to cope with deep emotional distress and uncertainty about her future.
Gueenata Yeho, 25, says she has been struggling to recover psychologically since the incident, which occurred late in the night of March 25 while her family was asleep.
She recounted how suspicious movements outside their home alerted them to danger moments before unknown attackers forced their way in and launched a violent assault. In the chaos, she managed to escape, but her mother and sister did not survive.
Now dealing with the aftermath, Ms Yeho says the experience continues to affect her daily life, making it difficult to sleep or eat as she processes the loss of her closest family members.
With her father already deceased, she says she has been left without immediate family support and is uncertain about how to continue her education and rebuild her life.
She is therefore calling on government agencies, civil society organisations, and individuals to assist her in overcoming the challenges she now faces.
The incident has also renewed concerns about safety in parts of the municipality, as residents call for stronger measures to protect lives and prevent such tragedies.
