A businessman accused of playing a role in the 2019 murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale has denied allegations that he provided the journalist’s photographs to Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong before the killing.
Thirty-five-year-old Daniel Koranteng, also known as Nana Amakye, was arraigned before the Madina District Court, where he was remanded into custody after being provisionally charged with murder.
Prosecutors claim that Koranteng’s call records placed him near Suale’s residence in Madina at the time of the murder, suggesting his possible involvement.
However, while Koranteng admitted knowing the journalist, visiting Agyapong, and taking photographs with Suale, he strongly denied selling the images to anyone.
Despite his denial, the prosecution insists that Suale himself had previously identified Koranteng as the individual who supplied the photographs that were later aired on Net2 TV, where Agyapong publicly called for retribution against the journalist.
According to investigators, Koranteng evaded police questioning by fleeing to the United Kingdom in August 2019, shortly after refusing to respond to multiple police invitations. He later returned to Ghana and was arrested in Amasaman on March 15, 2025, following intelligence reports.
The court has scheduled committal proceedings for April 1, 2025, as prosecutors continue their investigations.
The murder of Ahmed Suale, who was part of journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ investigative team, remains a high-profile case, drawing significant public attention. Many are watching closely as authorities pursue justice in the case.
