Presidential Adviser on the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development, Augustus Obuadum Tanoh, has urged traditional authorities in the Eastern Region to make dispute-free lands available to investors to accelerate tourism development.
He said access to secure land was critical to attracting investment and transforming the region’s tourism potential into viable economic opportunities.
Mr Tanoh made the call at the opening of the maiden Eastern Regional Expo in Koforidua, held on the theme: “Unlocking Opportunities for Sustainable Trade, Tourism, and Investment.”
He encouraged traditional authorities to consider leasing lands to investors rather than outright sales, allowing communities to retain ownership while benefiting from investments and development.
Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Minister, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, also called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders in tourism, trade and investment to develop the Eastern Region’s natural and cultural assets into sustainable economic opportunities.
The expo seeks to promote investment, enterprise development and job creation across the Eastern Region.
