As part of its commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment, Telecel Ghana is marking International Women’s Week with a series of impactful initiatives under the theme ‘Accelerate HER.’ Running from March 3 to 8, the celebration aims to inspire, uplift, and invest in women while challenging gender biases and promoting inclusivity.
Building on the global ‘Accelerate Action’ theme for International Women’s Day 2025, Telecel Ghana has designed both internal and external activities to support women’s advancement. Speaking at the launch of the week-long program, CEO Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai underscored the importance of translating words into meaningful action.
“At Telecel Ghana, we don’t just talk about change, we drive it. This International Women’s Week, we are taking concrete steps to ensure that women receive increased support and the push they need to succeed. Accelerating HER is everyone’s responsibility,” she emphasized.
The week kicked off with Wear Purple Day, symbolizing solidarity with women’s empowerment. Employees are also engaging in the #SheElevatesMe campaign, sharing stories about the women who inspire them.
In a bid to equip women with economic tools, the company is hosting a Wealth Building and Financial Planning Webinar for its female employees, providing essential guidance on achieving financial independence.
Beyond its internal initiatives, Telecel Ghana is investing in young girls through the ‘Accelerate HER Future’ Mentorship Initiative at the Kanda Cluster of Schools. Female employees will mentor students, encouraging them to explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Additionally, the ‘Buy A Math Set for HER’ campaign seeks to provide essential learning tools for girls, helping to bridge educational gaps.
Professional growth is also a key focus. The ‘Boss Lady Headshot Shoot’ is giving female employees the opportunity to enhance their professional brand with high-quality portraits, while a networking event over drinks will create a space for women to discuss strategies for accelerating their careers.
The celebration will culminate in the Women 100 Power Connect event, where accomplished women from diverse sectors will gather to exchange ideas, share experiences, and explore opportunities for collaboration.
“This month is about more than celebration; it’s about concrete action,” said Daniel Adanu, Acting Human Resources Director of Telecel Ghana. “We are committed to creating opportunities for women to thrive, both within Telecel Ghana and in the communities we serve. The ‘Accelerate HER’ theme reflects our belief that empowering women is essential for building a stronger, more inclusive, and equitable world.”
Through the Accelerate HER initiative, Telecel Ghana is taking active steps to foster gender equity, challenge stereotypes, and create lasting opportunities for women to succeed.
