An Accra Circuit Court has admitted two men to bail in connection with an alleged late-night robbery at Dansoman-Sahara that resulted in the loss of cash, an iPhone 16 Pro Max and personal documents belonging to a medical doctor.
Joel Armah, popularly known as “Stop 10,” who is accused of robbery and conspiracy, and Gideon Awuah, alias “Bongo,” charged with dishonestly receiving stolen property, each pleaded not guilty before the court presided over by Mrs Basilia Adjei-Tawiah.
The court granted them bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 each with two sureties. One surety must be justified, while the other must be a salaried worker earning not less than GH¢2,500. The case has been adjourned to February 26, 2026.
According to Chief Inspector Daniel Ofori-Appiah, the complainant, Madam Eva Vera Tetteh-Fio, was attacked in the early hours of January 2, 2026, while walking along Adotey Mingle Street. Prosecution alleges that Armah, riding an Apsonic motorbike with one Jibril, also known as “Wale,” as pillion rider, slowed near the victim. Jibril reportedly brandished a machete, assaulted her and snatched her backpack and paper bag.
The stolen items included GH¢16,000, US$10, an iPhone 16 Pro Max valued at GH¢13,000, a wristwatch, passport, Ghana Card, Yellow Fever card, clothing and other personal belongings. The suspects allegedly fled on the motorbike and later sold the phone to Awuah for GH¢2,000.
Police investigations led to Armah’s arrest at Bukom on January 10, 2026. He is said to have mentioned Jibril, who remains at large, as his accomplice and identified Awuah as the buyer of the stolen phone. Awuah was subsequently arrested.
Both accused persons have been formally charged, while efforts continue to apprehend the third suspect.
