Digital payments company Zeepay has urged the public, customers and business partners to disregard what it describes as misleading media reports suggesting that a legal dispute involving the company has been concluded, insisting that the matter remains before the courts pending determination by the Court of Appeal.
The company issued the clarification on Monday, June 29, following widespread reports claiming that a High Court had ordered Zeepay and its Chief Executive Officer to refund more than US$11.6 million in connection with a disputed fund transfer transaction.
In a statement, Zeepay stressed that the legal process has not been concluded and cautioned the public against relying on reports that it said do not accurately reflect the current status of the case.
“Following recent media publications concerning the matter involving Zeepay and other parties, we wish to inform our partners, stakeholders, customers, and the general public that this matter remains before the courts, pending determination by the Court of Appeal,” the company stated.
According to Zeepay, certain aspects of the reports circulating in the media are inaccurate and any issues arising from those publications would be addressed through the appropriate legal processes.
The company said it remains committed to respecting the judicial process and would not comment on matters currently before the courts.
“Accordingly, we will refrain from commenting further on matters that are sub judice, and we urge the public to treat unverified reports with caution pending the courts’ final determination,” the statement added.
While declining to discuss the merits of the case, Zeepay sought to reassure customers and partners that the ongoing legal proceedings have not affected its operations.
The company said it continues to provide its services without disruption and remains committed to maintaining high standards of professionalism, integrity and customer service.
Zeepay also expressed appreciation to its customers, partners, employees and other stakeholders for their continued confidence and support as the appeal process runs its course.
The statement comes amid heightened public interest in the dispute following reports of the High Court ruling, with the company maintaining that the matter is yet to reach its final legal conclusion.
