Nestlé has appointed Samer Chedid as the new Chief Executive Officer for its Central and West Africa region, marking a homecoming for the seasoned executive who once led the company’s operations in Ghana.
Chedid takes over from Mauricio Alarcón, who has transitioned into a new role within the Nestlé Group. The announcement, made on Tuesday by Nestlé’s Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Department, positions Chedid at the helm of operations spanning 25 countries across the region.
A veteran of the multinational food and beverage giant, Chedid brings over two decades of global experience, having held strategic roles across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Notably, he served as Country Manager for Nestlé Ghana—a period many in the company view as instrumental in shaping his familiarity with the unique dynamics of West African markets.
“It is a great pleasure to return to a region that has played an important part in my Nestlé journey,” Chedid said in a statement. “With our dedicated team of over 5,000 employees, I am committed to driving innovation, quality, and meaningful collaboration that will uplift communities and protect our environment.”
Chedid joined Nestlé in 1998 as a Sales Development Manager and quickly rose through the ranks. His leadership path includes key positions such as General Business Manager in Bahrain, Qatar, and Dubai; Sales Director for the Middle East Region; Country Manager of Saudi Arabia; and most recently, CEO of Nestlé Indonesia.
Recognized for his people-centered leadership style and sharp strategic vision, Chedid is expected to spearhead Nestlé’s regional efforts in enhancing food security, boosting sustainable practices, and contributing to socio-economic development in Central and West Africa.
His return signals a renewed focus on growth and innovation in a region marked by both significant challenges and opportunities.
