Commuters who rely on the Accra–Tema shuttle service will have to make alternative travel arrangements this week, as the Ghana Railway Company Limited (GRCL) has announced a four-day suspension of operations.
According to a statement from the company, the service will be unavailable from Tuesday, 12th August, to Friday, 15th August, due to unforeseen technical challenges. The railway operator assured passengers that engineers are working around the clock to resolve the problem and restore operations safely.
Normal service is expected to resume on Monday, 18th August.
While apologising for the disruption, the GRCL expressed appreciation for the patience and understanding of its “cherished passengers” during the maintenance period.
The Accra–Tema shuttle remains one of the most affordable and convenient transport links for workers, traders, and students commuting between the capital and Tema, and the company has pledged to ensure its safe and reliable return to service.
