President John Mahama has announced plans to revise the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) Act to remove the minimum capital threshold for foreign investors, a move expected to boost business creation and attract more investment into the country.
Addressing Japanese business owners, the President said the reform is designed to make it easier for investors of all sizes to establish and expand businesses in Ghana. “Whether you’re bringing in $50,000 or $100,000, you can set up and grow your business in Ghana,” he assured.
The review of the GIPC Act is part of a broader strategy to foster a more open, competitive, and business-friendly environment. Officials hope the changes will position Ghana as a leading investment destination in Africa, capable of drawing a diverse range of foreign investors.
The policy shift is expected to encourage increased participation in key sectors such as manufacturing, agribusiness, energy, and digital innovation, supporting job creation and long-term economic growth.
