Access to clean water in parts of the Biakoye District of the Oti Region has received a major boost following the donation of four large water tanks by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Biakoye, Madam Jean-Marie Formadi.
The beneficiaries—Bowiri Kyirahini, Worawora Rice Mill New Site, Nkonya Wurupong Resettlement, and the Kwamekrom Health Centre—have long grappled with limited potable water storage, exposing residents to the risk of waterborne diseases.
The MP, under her “Making Biakoye Work Again” initiative, said the intervention was aimed at improving safe water delivery in communities where inadequate infrastructure continues to hinder quality of life. She urged beneficiaries to maintain the tanks well so they could serve the broader population for years.
Residents expressed relief and gratitude, noting that fetching water had often been a daunting task. They pledged to ensure proper use of the tanks, emphasizing that the move would ease daily struggles and improve hygiene standards.
Health workers at Kwamekrom Health Centre also highlighted the importance of the donation, explaining that reliable water supply was critical for patient care and sanitation.
Madam Formadi, accompanied by constituency executives, used the occasion to reiterate her commitment to improving essential services across Biakoye, stressing that better access to water was a basic need that must be met for healthier communities.
