Investigators are intensifying efforts to determine the cause of the aircraft crash at TMA Daycare Centre near Oninku Drive Basic School, with authorities emphasizing collaboration and methodical analysis in the absence of key flight data technology.
The Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Bureau (AIB) says it has secured critical evidence from the crash site, including the wreckage, which has now been moved to a protected facility at the Ghana Air Force for detailed examination. The relocation was made possible with logistical support from the Ghana Armed Forces, particularly the Air Force.
Acting Commissioner John Wumborti noted that unlike larger aircraft, the crashed microlight did not have a black box, a factor that places greater reliance on alternative investigative methods. These include extensive eyewitness accounts gathered from individuals who were present when the incident occurred.
According to the AIB, investigators will apply standard aviation safety procedures and a range of analytical approaches to reconstruct the events leading up to the crash. The bureau has assured the public that its findings will be made available once the investigation is complete.
Authorities also praised the swift and coordinated emergency response involving multiple agencies, including the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Ghana Police Service, the military, and the Ghana National Fire Service. Officials say this level of cooperation has been crucial in securing the scene and supporting the ongoing investigation.
