A high-level delegation of 15 Ghanaian healthcare organizations has embarked on a four-city tour of the United Kingdom to explore trade partnerships and innovative solutions to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare sector.
The roadshow, which runs from March 17 to 21, 2025, includes representatives from government agencies, private health facilities, pharmaceutical companies, and medical equipment distributors. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to boost collaboration between Ghana and the UK in healthcare investment, research, training, and systems strengthening.
According to a statement issued by the British High Commission in Ghana, the visit aligns with the UK’s broader commitment to fostering trade and investment opportunities with African nations.
“The UK is dedicated to deepening its economic ties with Africa, and Ghana remains a priority partner. This delegation presents a significant opportunity for UK businesses to engage with Ghana’s expanding healthcare market while supporting Ghana’s ambitions for universal health coverage,” said John Humphrey, UK Trade Commissioner for Africa.
The roadshow, which begins in London before moving to Birmingham, Leeds, and Cardiff, will provide Ghanaian delegates with first-hand exposure to cutting-edge medical technologies, pharmaceutical innovations, and healthcare infrastructure solutions. They will meet with UK businesses that offer products and services tailored to Ghana’s healthcare needs.
The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Madam Harriet Thompson, emphasized the strong ties between the two countries in healthcare, stating that the visit would enhance collaboration, create new investment opportunities, and support Ghana’s goal of improving access to quality healthcare.
“The UK and Ghana have a long-standing partnership in healthcare, and this roadshow is another step toward strengthening that bond. By working together, we can develop sustainable solutions to improve healthcare services and ensure both countries benefit from shared expertise and innovation,” she noted.
With healthcare systems globally facing challenges such as supply chain disruptions and increasing demand for medical infrastructure, the UK-Ghana healthcare partnership aims to enhance resilience, drive investment, and create long-term solutions for improved healthcare delivery.
This visit not only presents new trade and investment prospects but also paves the way for deeper cooperation in knowledge-sharing and capacity building, ensuring that Ghana’s healthcare sector remains competitive and well-equipped for the future.
