The people of Krachi have renewed calls for unity and investment-driven growth as they celebrated the 25th anniversary of Nana Mprah Besemuna III’s reign as Krachiwura.
The silver jubilee event, held in Kete-Krachi, brought together traditional leaders, government officials, and dignitaries in a vibrant display of culture and heritage. Among those present were Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Bupewura Abudulai Jinapor II, and Ohenepong Dr Yeboah Asiamah.
Rather than focusing solely on the longevity of his reign, the celebration highlighted the developmental strides made in the Krachi area over the past two and a half decades. Addressing the gathering, Nana Mprah Besemuna III emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among residents, noting that sustainable progress depends on unity, peace, and shared responsibility.
He also used the occasion to court investors and development partners, pointing to opportunities in infrastructure, local enterprise, and strategic partnerships that could generate employment and improve living conditions in the area.
Under his leadership, several key projects have been undertaken, including the construction of the Krachi Palace, which has become a symbol of cultural identity and unity. Improvements in road infrastructure, particularly the tarring of major roads in 2002, have enhanced transportation and boosted economic activity.
The Krachiwura has also championed initiatives in education, healthcare, and social development. His contributions include support for schools, advocacy for better educational facilities, and a leading role in establishing the Krachi Midwifery Training School. In addition, efforts to improve access to potable water, electricity, and healthcare services have remained central to his leadership agenda.
Beyond local development, Nana Mprah Besemuna III has played a significant role in regional and national matters. He served as the first President of the Oti Regional House of Chiefs from 2021 to 2024 and was instrumental in advocacy efforts that led to the creation of the Oti Region.
The celebration also showcased initiatives aimed at strengthening community engagement, including the establishment of Kaakye FM and support for self-help projects among citizens both locally and in the diaspora.
Chairman of the event, Ohenepong Dr Yeboah Asiamah, praised the Krachiwura’s leadership, stressing that cultural heritage can serve as a powerful driver of economic growth through tourism, creative arts, and eco-friendly ventures.
As the festivities concluded, the anniversary served not only as a commemoration of 25 years of traditional leadership but also as a platform to rally citizens toward a shared vision of unity, cultural pride, and sustainable development for the future of Krachi.
