Heath Goldfields Limited was knocked out of the bidding process for the Damang Gold Mine after failing to meet the required technical benchmark, according to findings from the Tender Committee.
The evaluation report submitted to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources revealed that the company did not achieve the minimum 80 percent technical score, automatically disqualifying it from proceeding to the financial assessment stage.
In contrast, Engineers and Planners Limited successfully met all criteria, including demonstrating access to over $500 million in financing from major banks, and ultimately secured the highest overall score in the tender process.
With technical evaluation carrying the most weight, Heath Goldfields’ shortfall proved decisive, paving the way for Engineers and Planners to emerge as the preferred operator of the Damang mine.
The mine, previously run by Gold Fields Ghana Limited, is expected to undergo a new phase of investment and operational expansion under its incoming management, marking a key moment in Ghana’s push to strengthen local participation in the mining sector.
